Town Without Pity, Headline Without Meaning

The Eureka Times-Standard had a rather bizarre front-page headline on May 20th, “Town Without Pity”, lamenting the fact that there have been five homicides—including one committed by the Eureka Police Department—so far this year.

The article gives no insight, no analysis, into how Eureka got to that point. Rather, the article just gives a short recap of the year in homicides so far.

Could it perhaps have something to do with a culture corrupted by cradle-to-grave drugs? Children are given injections, drugs in various other forms, and consciousness-altering substances such as sugar from birth, they watch others practice "better living through chemicals", and then we wonder why they go on to become perpetrators, victims, or both.

However, the T-S article is not without merit. After all, it distracts the reader from considering all the deaths in Iraq brought about by the USA since Operation Iraqi Liberation (OIL) began, while doing nothing to encourage the reader to ask "Why?".
