Guess We'll Have To Keep Troops There Forever

Having created the conditions that have resulted in gross human rights abuses by all concerned, the US will now use that as an excuse to keep US troops in Iraq indefinitely, and proclaim that it is doing so to promote human rights.

George Orwell must be saddened by how all of his warnings have gone unheeded.

Iraq’s Human Rights Abuses Could Jeopardize U.S. Funding

The U.S. government is warning Iraq that it may be forced to withhold funding for Iraq’s security forces unless the Iraqi police improve its human rights record. Under what is known as the Leahy Law, the U.S. government is prohibited from financing foreign security forces that commit "gross violations of human rights."
