The Sham And Implications Of Breed Stereotyping

The Lawrence Journal-World carried a wire service article about a man who was convicted of deliberately unleashing three pit bulls for the "fun" of watching them attack people.

My letter to the Lawrence Journal-World, and other newspapers:

Dear Editor,

The owner of three pit bulls in Kansas City that attacked three people was let off with no jail time, just probation.

It is interesting how governments are so quick to kill innocent pit bulls based solely on ancestry, yet when the government has the opportunity to punish a person responsible for a serious dog attack, those same governments do virtually nothing.

When will people wake up to the fact that governments fan the flames of breed stereotyping so as to condition the masses for stereotyping--and worse--based on national ancestry, skin color, and other equally illegitimate criteria?

Sincerely,

Terry L. Clark
