Radio North Korea vs. Radio USA

Salon has an interesting piece on censorship in North Korea, and how radio there is used as a propaganda instrument. A short interesting read.

Which misses important points.

Which I raised in my Posting:

But what if one compares North Korea with the US mass market radio, the Clear Channel pablum, the lack of significant airplay for protest songs? When's the last time you heard Neil Young's "Let's Impeach The President" on a mainstream corporate US radio station? We live in a culture where "talent" consists of "American Idol" in which none of the performers seems capable of playing a musical instrumen, or writing a song (either words OR lyrics), singing Faux-Approved lyrical mediocrity.
