Fred Thompson Names Cheney's Daughter to Chair Campaign

In campaign news, the former actor and U.S. Senator Fred Thompson will be participating in his first Republican presidential debate tonight in Dearborn Michigan. On Monday Thompson announced Vice President Dick Cheney's daughter Liz would co-chair his presidential campaign. Former Virginia Senator George Allen is another co-chair. Last year Allen lost his re-election bid after he referred to a young man as a macaca at a campaign event.

We've seen this Fred Thompson before. As an aide to then-Senator Howard Baker during the Watergate investigation, he served as a mole for the Nixon White House. Nixon recognized Thompson to be ""dumb as hell". MSNBC did a great article on Thompson in that era, July 9, 2007.

But then he has had his pro-abortion moments, which he now conveniently "forgets". And his First Amendment moments (or was this a pro-business vote?) in which he voted against a ban on violent video games to minors.

If Karl Rove starts helping Thompson, covertly or overtly, then you know he's the backup plan should Hillary fail.
