Feeding Mass Distractions

Actual email from "CBS Breaking News":

"A grand jury has indicted a third member of Duke University's lacrosse team on charges of rape, kidnapping and sexual offense".

What in the world makes this "Breaking News"? Will it affect the lives of thousands or millions?

Or is it just another example of the elites distracting the masses from what is *REALLY* important?
