Utah: Gunning Down The Wildlife

The SF Chronicle ran an article about a bear who put his or her mouth around the arm of a boy scout, causing no harm of any import. The bear was soon therafter blown away.

My letter to the San Francisco Chronicle:

Dear Editor:

Once again, another sentient being has been shot down in cold blood ("Bear Killed After Biting Boy Scout").

Apparently Utah has been taking lessons from the killing spree of the California Department Of Fish And Game. No attempt was made to sedate the bear with a tranquilizer gun and relocate him or her. Note that the news media has obediently gone along with the Orwellian Newspeak by referring to the bear as "it", which plays into the hands of those who do not want the public to think about the fact that one of God's living breathing creations has been senselessly killed. To further manipulate the public, the killer is called a "conservation officer", although the only things being conserved are a little bit of money and any sense of morality.

Sincerely,

Terry L. Clark
