Caught With His Lies Down

San Francisco Mayor Newsom admitted today to having an affair with his now-former campaign manager's wife. You can catch some of the details in the SF Chronicle, including C.W. Nevius' perhaps-accurate but still sad article stating "Most Seem Willing To Forgive Newsom"; and the SF Bay Guardian.


My letter to the SF Chronicle and the SF Bay Guardian:

Dear Editor,

The Mayor Newsom reelection motto: "Lie, cheat, and steal, it's not just for Republicans anymore".

I am confused over the "apology" in this sort of situation. What exactly is Newsom "sorry" for? That he got caught with his, uh, hand in the candy jar? Perhaps I missed the part about the gun being placed to his head and Newsom being forced to commit numerous acts over an extended period of time completely against his will.
