Two new reports from the Women’s Healthy Eating and Living (WHEL) study show that diets including at least five fruit and vegetable servings a day reduce mortality by nearly 50 percent in women previously diagnosed with breast cancer.

Study: More fruits and veggies don't prevent breast cancer recurrence

A low-fat diet loaded with extra servings of fruits and vegetables doesn't prevent recurrences of breast cancer any better than simply following the federal nutrition guidelines, say Bay Area researchers who studied the diets of more than 3,000 women for seven years.

Cancer doctors and nutritionists said they were disappointed over results of the study, which are published today in a report in the Journal of the American Medical Association.
