From ABC Nightline's email on one of the segments on tonight's (June 14, 2006) show:
MARSH FORK ELEMENTARY Marsh Fork Elementary School in the hills of West Virginia sits less than 300 feet from a coal silo. Every day the coal is "scrubbed" -- the mercury and titanium are literally washed off with a chemical agent. Several children who go to the school have developed respiratory problems -- headaches, sore throats and nausea. The state says the school is perfectly safe, but parents of some of the kids who have become sick are filing a class action against Massey Energy, the mining company. The company now wants to build a second coal silo next to the school. Correspondent David Kerley has our report tonight from West Virginia. We hope you'll join us.
