The First Major Stolen (S)election Of 2006

How do you climb down from an ultimatum that threatens to create an electoral crisis and has sent the country to the edge of serious instability?

Premature proclamation?Mexico's left-of-center presidential candidate Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador seems to have begun that process.

The rest of the San Francisco Chronicle's towing of the company line.

In another one of those Last Acts Of Defiance, I fired off the following missive to the San Francisco Bu$hicle:

Dear Editor,

How many stolen elections will it take before the Chronicle gets a clue?

2000 and 2004 in the US, now 2006 in Mexico.

Attention and integrity, like Elvis, have apparently left the building.

Anyone who has not mothballed their brain may wish to check out Robert Kennedy Jr.’s article in Rolling Stone on the 2004 theft, and Greg Palast’s website on the larceny in Mexico.

Sincerely,

Terry L. Clark
