"Destroying" What Is Too Expensive To Repair

A teenage driver escaped injury early Sunday when the car she was driving hit a cow east of Salina.

The driver...was heading east on Country Club Road about 1 a.m. Near the Brenda Lane intersection, she saw a black cow standing in the road and could not brake in time to avoid a collision, said Lt. Mike Smith of the Saline County Sheriff's Office.

The cow survived and was collected by the owner, but it was likely to have to be destroyed due to its injuries, Smith said.

Hummm, I wonder if the driver of the car would likewise have been "destroyed" if someone decided it would cost too much to repair her injuries?

And don't you just love euphemisms? We don't "kill", we "destroy". Much more sterile that way.
