Murder By Private Parties, Murder As Public Policy

Associated Press had an article, August 16, 2006, on singer Troy Gentry's alleged murder of a caged, tame bear, with a bow and arrow. My letter to the editor of various newspapers carrying the story:

Dear Editor,

Certainly the alleged murder of a tame bear by Troy Gentry, if true, is the act of a very sick and twisted individual.

But is it not even more barbaric when, for example, the California Department Of Fish And Game, which theoretically exists to protect and preserve wildlife, goes out--often with packs of other "law enforcement" officials--and guns down bears and other sentient beings because it would be too much work to tranquilize God's furry friends and transport them to areas away from human colonies?

I guess when the government engages in savagery, it is just business as usual, another day at the office, not worthy of major headlines.

Sincerely,

Terry L. Clark
