Prosecuted For Being A Bad Doctor...Or Not Following BigPharma's Marching Orders

An interesting story in the Topeka Capital-Journal of August 18, 2006, about a doctor who is being prosecuted for killing a patient with a non-FDA (Federal Drug Advocates) substance:

"According to a statement issued by District Attorney Robert Hecht and the grand jury indictment, Toth is charged in the death of Beverly A. Wunder, 47, of Topeka, who received intravenous infusions of a toxic metallic element known as Bismuth or Bismacine, which doesn't have FDA approval for intravenous use.
Hecht characterized the treatment as 'unauthorized, inappropriate and professionally unrecognized by the medical profession.'"

The newspaper is vague as to the reason for the second charge:

"The aggravated battery count is tied to a patient who was going into kidney failure and was hospitalized for 'a substantial period of time in serious condition,' Hecht wrote. That patient was scheduled to receive an intravenous infusion of the same heavy metal on April 19, 2005, Hecht wrote."

Perhaps the doctor truly is a menace to society...but the superficial coverage given by the Topeka Capital-Journal makes me nervous that perhaps the doctor is being prosecuted for not following the marching orders of medicate with BigPharma approved toxins, slice/dice, and radiate.

Back in the late 70's, when I was attending Washburn University in Topeka, a Topeka doctor was being persecuted for using Laetrile as a cancer treatment. Historically, the authorities in Kansas do not have a good track record on tolerance of "alternative" therapies.
