Woman blames miscarriage on Taser shocks

WICHITA -- A pregnant woman stunned by a Taser last month during her arrest says the shocks, coupled with a lack of jail care, led to her miscarriage this week.
The Taser incident occurred Sept. 29 after Robinson was arrested on suspicion of driving with a suspended license, no proof of insurance and possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

Arnold said Robinson told her that she yelled she was pregnant to the sheriff's deputy, but he still pressed the Taser to her back three times while telling her to get on her stomach.

Sheriff's Lt. Larry Bragg told The Wichita Eagle that jail officials knew when Robinson arrived that she was pregnant and had been shocked by a Taser. They placed her in the jail clinic and monitored her for 24 hours, which is common with anyone stunned with the device, Bragg said.

Robinson returned to the clinic several times after that and saw a jail doctor periodically, Bragg said. She stayed at the clinic as recently as Sunday, but said she was feeling better Monday and asked to return to her jail pod, he said.

Robinson went into labor Wednesday night and was taken by ambulance to the hospital, where she had a miscarriage.

Where is the imminent threat to the life or health of the Sheriff's Deputy that justified using a Taser in the first place? Sounds like another trigger-happy sadist with a badge.

And where are the "right-to-life" advocates? They should be marching en masse, along with those who oppose police brutality. A golden opportunity to form a coalition against just one more example of how the U.S. is turning into a Fascist state.
