The Continuing Edwards Bloggers Fiasco

UPDATE: A better article over at Salon's War Room, and more of a discussion from those commenting. But still, with one commendable exception, they missed the point, so I slightly modified my Post, below, and Posted it at Salon.

See my previous Posts on the Edwards Blogger fiasco: Profiles In Gutlessness, and John Edwards: Big Brother.

Tim Dickinson at Rolling Stone has a strange column blasting the bloggers who were hired by John Edwards' presidential campaign, then fired for opinions they expressed before being hired.
Along the way, it questions why Edwards waited so long to fire the bloggers, and takes a shot at the rightwing nutjobs that did, oh, say, a couple minutes of research on the bloggers' prior utterances.

My post at Rolling Stone:

Tim, it's like Phil Angelides' campaign in California against HerrGoobernator: If he can't run a political campaign properly, what business does he have holding high office? Yes, Edwards over Jeb Bu$h in a heartbeat, but the Democrats have far more options than John Edwards.

The opinions were expressed BEFORE joining Edwards' campaign. Where were the Edwards people that should have been reviewing the bloggers' prior writings?

Now the message is clear: Join Edwards' campaign, check your brain at the door. And if you happened to be capable of independent thought in the past, get outta here. Hummmm, sounds very much like the Current Occupant.
