Greyhound Racing: Reality Check

The print edition of The Salina [Kansas] Journal, March 30, 2007, had three nice photos accompanying an prominent front-page article promoting legalization of gambling of Kansas, and how that would benefit the greyhound racing industry. The first picture showed a kindly-looking old man reaching over the fence to pet one of his enslaved minions, the other two were of greyhounds racing on tracks.

My email to the author of that article, David Clouston, with copies to Executive Editor Scott Seirer and Publisher Tom Bell, which was followed by the London Times article from July 16, 2006, "Revealed: the man who killed 10,000 dogs":

Hey, nice pictures & promotion of the business of greyhounds.

How about tomorrow you run this story, below, from the London Times, showing the other side of this nice little "sport"?

Darned reality...it keeps getting in the way of make believe...

"We have enslaved the rest of the animal creation, and have treated our distant cousins in fur and feathers so badly that beyond doubt, if they were able to formulate a religion, they would depict the Devil in human form."
