My email to the Sacramento Bee:

Dear Editor,

What next, front-to-back coverage of Anna Nicole?

Your "Breaking News Alert" email on the tragic death of a three-year-old child due to the operation of a car by her ten-year-old brother, followed by prominent exposure in your paper, is appalling.

What happened is a private family matter that has no business being given hysterical coverage in any reputable newspaper. But distracting the public from things that have broader implications, such as the pending death of the American Experiment in representative democracy, has become the business of the corporate media as once-great newspapers become scandal rags believing the power of the press is to essentially print money, minimizing resources for legitimate news and refusing to print truths that might offend major advertisers.
