Demand The House Vote To Impeach
Make a point to customize your message. Mine went to Rep. Mike Thompson, a Vietnam Veteran who has stuck his toe on top of the Impeachment waters but lacks the courage to even cover a single toenail. His recent constituent newsletter, for example, talked about impeachment, yet he waffled on even the purely symbolic step of voting for a Resolution of Censure because he wasn't sure of its legality. So let's see, he concedes that Bu$h is violating the law right-and-left yet proposes to do nothing at all about it.
Tonight on his website, Rep. Thompson lists as "Issues": Energy, Environment, Fiscal Responsibility, Health Care, Veterans, and Wine Issues. "Wine Issues"??? Booze is more important than the fate of our Constitutional form of government, the fate of our nation and perhaps of life on this planet??? Is your member of Congress any more reality-based than mine? Send 'em a message! Here's the one I sent:
My father fought the Nazis in Europe during World War II. Why? So that a cowardly Congress could vote in the Fourth Reich, sitting on their hands trembling in fear and wetting their pants while Hitler's progeny roll on unobstructed?
Fighting in the ground war in Europe required courage. A single bullet, a piece of shrapnel, death and dismemberment all around. So many lives risked, so many lost, so many ruined.
Yet today, few members of Congress have the courage or the integrity to even raise their hand or their voice in opposition to a new generation of tyrants.
Where are the descendents of Washington, Jefferson, Adams, and others who founded this once-great nation? With rare exceptions, obviously not in the halls of Congress.
