Civilian prisons coming soon to U.S. Army base near you

The U.S. Army is authorized to create civilian prison labor camps on military installations, according to a little-noticed regulation.
The Army prison camp policy is defined in Army Regulation 210-35, entitled "Installations: Civilian Inmate Labor Camps," signed Feb. 14, 2005, by Sandra R. Riley, then-administrative assistant to the secretary of the Army.

The regulations specify Army personnel running the prison camps will prepare an "Inmate Labor Plan" that will comply with 18 U.S.C. 4125(a), governing civilian inmate labor.

WND previously reported that in May President Bush signed National Security Presidential Directive-51 and Homeland Security Presidential Directive-20, which granted near-dictatorial powers to the president in the event he declares a national emergency.

"The last time civilians were incarcerated on U.S. Army installations was when the Japanese were interred during World War II," Christensen told WND.

But it's not surprising, coming from the member of a fascist movement that has no use for the law, no appreciation of the Magna Carta, US Constitution, Bill Of Rights, etc..

Craig's statement begs the question: Does his door swing both ways, i.e. is he Bisexual?

Craig is so typical of the fascists that want to turn this country into a Police State, in which the cops are always right, screw Due Process and all that crap you'd find in an airport bathroom stall. So why doesn't he just state that since the cops thought he did wrong, he must be guilty and sent to another country for, er, "interrogation"?

If he weren't such a hypocrite--like so many others in the Fourth Reich--such a dalliance at an airport wouldn't be of much concern. But, unfortunately, it's just the latest in a long string of such conduct that is publicly condemed while privately condoned.

Robert Fisk: Even I question the 'truth' about 9/11

I am increasingly troubled at the inconsistencies in the official narrative of 9/11. It's not just the obvious non sequiturs: where are the aircraft parts (engines, etc) from the attack on the Pentagon? Why have the officials involved in the United 93 flight (which crashed in Pennsylvania) been muzzled? Why did flight 93's debris spread over miles when it was supposed to have crashed in one piece in a field?

I am talking about scientific issues. If it is true, for example, that kerosene burns at 820C under optimum conditions, how come the steel beams of the twin towers – whose melting point is supposed to be about 1,480C – would snap through at the same time? (They collapsed in 8.1 and 10 seconds.) What about the third tower – the so-called World Trade Centre Building 7 (or the Salmon Brothers Building) – which collapsed in 6.6 seconds in its own footprint at 5.20pm on 11 September? Why did it so neatly fall to the ground when no aircraft had hit it?

Ron Paul will be part of a panel on Book TV this weekend, Sunday, August 26, at 11:00 pm, to Monday, August 27, at 12:10 am (Pacific Standard Time)

One thing that fascinates me about the current state of the body politic is that genuine conservatives such as supporters of Ron Paul tend to be willing to reach across the political aisle and form alliances with genuine liberals (the kind that have no use for Big Brother government) in order to salvage our constitutional republic, while so many so-called liberals are ready to jump in bed with Hillary “Softer Face Of Bu$h Fascism” Clinton even knowing the Clintons have voiced no opposition to the Halliburton Concentration Camps, and murdered over a million Iraqis (500K of them children), during their first reign. This week, Book TV—albeit at an atrocious time—offers the chance to learn about Ron Paul.

The Iraqis don't deserve us. So we betray them...

Always, we have betrayed them. We backed "Flossy" in Yemen. The French backed their local "harkis" in Algeria; then the FLN victory forced them to swallow their own French military medals before dispatching them into mass graves. In Vietnam, the Americans demanded democracy and, one by one - after praising the Vietnamese for voting under fire in so many cities, towns and villages - they destroyed the elected prime ministers because they were not abiding by American orders.

Now we are at work in Iraq. Those pesky Iraqis don't deserve our sacrifice, it seems, because their elected leaders are not doing what we want them to do.

The Next Show Trial Hanging

The Guardian UK, August 22, 2007, has a fluff piece, "'Chemical Ali' on trial for brutal crushing of Shia uprising".

Waste your time reading the Pentagon Press Release if you like--or, you can send a letter to the editor that will never see the light of day, like the one I sent:

Dear Editor:

To say that "Chemical Ali" is "on trial" indicates a serious disconnect between your publication and reality.

A "trial", at least in the Western sense, suggests that the accused is allowed to defend against the charges to the best of his or her ability, introducing evidence that would provide a defense or raising questions as to the legitimacy of the charges.

That Ali Hassan al-Majid is going to be hung by the neck until he is dead is a foregone conclusion. To pretend otherwise is to to cheerlead the U.$ equivalent of the Soviet Show Trials that some of us ridiculed in our youth.

Perhaps the name of your publication should be changed to, "Guardian Of The Fourth Reich".

Erasing Kucinich

The Kucinich campaign is still awaiting an official response from ABC News about the unexplained – some have charged "inexplicable" - way in which the network has handled its post-debate online coverage of Ohio Congressman and Democratic Presidential candidate Dennis Kucinich over the past few days.

Among the "outrages" that have energized tens of thousands of Kucinich supporters - and even non-supporters - thousands of whom have flooded the ABC News website and other online news sites with comments of protest:

* Congressman Kucinich was apparently deliberately cropped out of a "Politics Page" photo of the candidates.

* Sometime Monday afternoon, after Congressman Kucinich took a commanding lead in ABC's own on-line "Who won the Democratic debate" survey, the survey was dropped from prominence on the website.

* ABC News has not officially reported the results of its online survey.

* After the results of that survey showed Congressman Kucinich winning handily, ABC News, sometime Monday afternoon, replaced the original survey with a second survey asking "Who is winning the Democratic debate?"

* During the early voting Monday afternoon and evening, U.S. Senator Barack Obama was in the lead. By sometime late Monday or early Tuesday morning, Congressman Kucinich regained the lead by a wide margin in this second survey.

* Sometime Tuesday morning, ABC News apparently dropped the second survey from prominence or killed it entirely.

* AND, as every viewer of the nationally televised Sunday Presidential forum is aware, Congressman Kucinich was not given an opportunity to answer a question from moderator George Stephanopoulos until 28 minutes into the program.

The campaign submitted objections and inquiries to ABC News representatives on Monday and Tuesday. ABC News representatives have failed to respond - or even acknowledge - those
objections and inquiries.

Stayed tuned for further details.

Dems: Wiretap Approval Could Grant Bush Extra Powers

Congressional Democrats are acknowledging President Bush’s broad new spying powers approved this month could be even more extensive than initially claimed. Ambiguous language defining “electronic surveillance” means the so-called Protect America of 2007 Act could go well beyond wiretapping to permit physical searches and financial record-gathering -- all without court approval. The admission comes amidst news the Bush administration has privately said it won’t be held to those limits the legislation does set on surveillance activities. The New York Times reports Justice Department officials refused repeated entreaties to commit to following Congressional rules at a private meeting last week. Participants in the meeting say assistant attorney general for national security Ken Wainstein told former Justice Department lawyer Bruce Fein the administration does not consider itself bound by Congressional restrictions.

Forget eating your greens: red and blue foods are the cancer fighters

Natural pigments that give certain fruit and vegetables a rich red, purple or blue colour act as powerful anti-cancer agents, according to a study by American scientists.

The compounds, found in foods such as aubergines, red cabbage, elderberries and bilberries, restricted the growth of cancer cells and in some cases killed them off entirely, leaving healthy cells unharmed.

Foods with the highest levels of the compounds were most effective at slowing cancer growth, with exotic purple corn and chokeberries stopping the growth of colon cancer cells and killing 20% in lab tests. Foods less enriched with the pigments, such as radishes and black carrots, slowed the growth of colon cancer cells by 50% to 80%.

Brits In Afghanistan: Half Of Frontline Troops "Patched Up" This Summer Alone

The human cost of the war in Afghanistan to British soldiers can be revealed today as figures show that almost half of frontline troops have required significant medical treatment during this summer's fighting.

In a graphic illustration of the intensity of the conflict in Helmand province, more than 700 battlefield soldiers have needed treatment since April - nearly half of the 1,500 on the front line. The figures, obtained from senior military sources, have never been released by the government, which has faced criticism that it has covered up the true extent of injuries sustained during the conflict.

By contrast, US official figures take into account soldiers treated on the front line. In their figures, wounded troops include those away from the front line for 72 hours or more.

China Hysteria & The New Arms Race (Or Worse)

I received an email from Mom's Rising, all hysterical about lead in children's toys, especially those coming from China, and asks the recipient to sign their online Petition asking the CPSC to do their job on all toys (not just those from China). While the Moms Rising email itself isn't online yet (and not worth copying/pasting here), you can get a flavor for it in their Blog posting.

So I fired off an email to Moms Rising, because they and much of the rest of the public seem to be swallowing the propaganda:

Please put the purple Kool Aid down before the whole planet goes up in smoke.

Do you seriously think that China just now suddenly started using nasty chemicals in their products such as lead?

Do you seriously think that US manufacturers aren't poisoning the American people right-and-left? There's a new study out, for example, showing that our cats are being poisoned by the garbage put in carpet. And guess what else is at ground level? Children. Do a Google search on
carpets cats thyroid

So what's up? The military-industrial complex needs a new Boogeyman to scare the American people into supporting more military spending. Hey, this Iraq thing isn't going so well, and the Generals just might revolt if DerBu$hler sends American boys and girls into Iran.

And the corporate news media is, as usual, operating as an adjunct to the White Man's House Press Office.

So, you really want to see something bad to children? Buying into the Bu$hit that could very well lead to WW III is just the ticket. The ashes of the children will glow in the dark, and as Nikita Khrushchev said, "The living will envy the dead".

At U.S. base, Iraqis must use separate latrine

FORWARD OPERATING BASE WARHORSE, Iraq — The sign taped to the men's latrine is just five lines:

Here at this searing, dusty U.S. military base about four miles west of Baqouba, Iraqis — including interpreters who walk the same foot patrols and sleep in the same tents as U.S. troops — must use segregated bathrooms.

Another sign, in a dining hall, warns Iraqis and "third-country nationals" that they have just one hour for breakfast, lunch or dinner. American troops get three hours. Iraqis say they sometimes wait as long as 45 minutes in hot lines to get inside the chow hall, leaving just 15 minutes to get their food and eat it.

It is at least 10 times greater than most estimates cited in the US media, yet it is based on the only scientifically valid study of violent Iraqi deaths caused by the U.S.-led invasion of March 2003.

That study, published in prestigious medical journal The Lancet, estimated that over 600,000 Iraqis had been killed as a result of the invasion as of July 2006. Iraqis have continued to be killed since then. The graphic above provides a rough daily update of this number based on a rate of increase derived from the Iraq Body Count.
